Terms and Conditions - Fleetham Lodge
What students can expect from a course at Fleetham Lodge:
Lessons
- All Tuition is provided by qualified and experienced EFL teachers with an internationally-recognised English Language teaching qualification.
- Lessons are usually held in the mornings, for the number of hours stated and do not include meal and break times. Where adverse weather may affect the activities included in the course we may need to re-arrange the timetable. Should this happen we will ensure that the full number of hours is still delivered.
- Rooms used for teaching will be adequately lit and heated with room to move around and suited to study.
Methodology
- We pride ourselves at RLI in keeping abreast of developments in English language teaching and our courses will use the latest techniques and materials to deliver our lessons.
- Courses will cover all the skills (unless they are specifically related to one area); Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing for the relevant level and field of study. Daily work on grammar and vocabulary forms the core of the teaching and pronunciation correction and advice is ongoing.
Materials.
- Teachers will draw their lesson material from a wide range of course and reference books as well as 'real' material sources such as newspapers and journals.
- Each student will be given a course book, notebook, pen and a folder. Photocopied supplementary exercises are given daily. We use a variety of teaching aids - cassette recorders, radio, TV, word games and internet where appropriate.
- Students receive an end of course report and recommendations for further study, together with an Attendance Certificate.
- All students become members of our E-learning site Gapfillers for a year.
Homework
- Teachers will set homework each day. These can be pen and paper exercises or internet based.
- Students have access to our library of English language books, reading books and videos/Cd's for study and relaxation.
- Newspapers are available every day and we have a selection of magazines and books available for students to take and read.
Accommodation
- All student bedrooms are well furnished and decorated to a high standard. They are cleaned regularly, and bed linen and towels are supplied and changed regularly.
- There are 4 student bedrooms and two bathrooms for the exclusive use of students.
Meals
- All meals are taken at Fleetham Lodge unless otherwise specified. Breakfast is continental style, lunch is light and dinner is the main meal of the day. The cuisine is very good and varied.
Total immersion
- We try as far as possible to immerse students in English for the time they are here. We will try to make sure other course participants do not speak the same native language (unless the group is a closed group) but should this be unavoidable we will inform all students at the time of booking.
Accompanied visits
These are arranged around the timetable usually in the afternoons. Suggestions are made as to suitable venues but these may be changed to suit students' interests where possible.
Activities
The activities offered reflect the fact that we are situated in the countryside. We do not give instruction in the activities but they are pitched at a level based on enjoyment rather than improving skills and are a way of providing a vehicle to practise English.
